Request for Public Comment RE: Plains Airport Automated Weather System

The Plains Airport is planning to install a new Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) on airport property. The FCC requires local notice and a public comment period per 47 CFR 17.4 (3) regarding environmental concerns. To submit comments of objections based on environmental concerns please follow instructions in 47 CFR 1.1307(c) and 47 CFR 1.1313(b).
The tower will be located on previously disturbed ground, within the airport property boundary. The tower will be 33 feet tall with all appurtenances and will be painted white and hazard orange with a red obstruction light. The AWOS system will be certified and provide accurate weather data to national weather reporting systems and local pilots. The tower will be located at Plains Airport: 47⁰ 28’ 18.6” N, 114⁰ 54’ 03.14” W
